Responsible Gaming

The Daman game is real-money gambling. Here is how to keep it under control — and where to get help in India if it stops being fun.

If you are 18 or under, stop here. Real-money gaming is strictly for adults aged 18 and over.

Gambling is entertainment, not income

The single most important idea on this entire site: the Daman game, like all colour-prediction games, is designed so the operator profits over time (see how the odds work). Treating them as a way to “earn” or recover money is how people get hurt. Spend only what you would spend on any other entertainment — and expect it to go.

Practical limits that work

  • Set a deposit limit before you start and never top up past it in a session.
  • Set a time limit. Fast one-minute rounds make hours vanish — use a phone timer.
  • Never chase losses. Increasing stakes to “win it back” is the fastest route to a big loss.
  • Do not borrow to play, and never use rent, bills or someone else’s money.
  • Take breaks and keep gambling out of low moods, boredom and alcohol.

Warning signs to watch for

It may be becoming a problem if you are: betting more than you can afford; hiding it from family; chasing losses; borrowing to play; or feeling anxious, irritable or unable to stop. These are signals to step away and seek support — they are common and help exists.

Tools you can use

Within the app, look for deposit limits, time reminders and self-exclusion or account-closure options, and use them. On your phone, app-blocking and screen-time tools can enforce a cooling-off period. The strongest tool is the simplest: decide your limit before you open the app.

Remember: stepping away is always allowed. No round is ever “due,” and walking away with a loss is far better than chasing a bigger one.

How to self-exclude or close your account

If you feel your use is becoming harmful, the most effective step is to remove access entirely. Within the Daman app, look for an account settings or support section that offers account suspension or closure. Once requested, do not create a second account to bypass the restriction — that defeats the purpose and most platforms will ban both accounts if detected.

You can also use your phone's built-in app-blocking tools (Digital Wellbeing on Android, Screen Time on iOS) to lock yourself out of the app entirely for a chosen period. These tools do not require the operator's cooperation and are immediate.

Deposit limit mechanics

Many players set a mental limit but find it easy to override in the moment. A more robust approach is to use your bank's UPI spending controls. Most Indian bank apps allow you to set a daily UPI spend cap — setting this below your gambling budget means you physically cannot transfer more than your limit even if you want to. Check under UPI settings in your bank's app.

Self-assessment: a quick check

Answer honestly — these are for your own benefit, not ours:

  • Have you spent more in the last 30 days than you intended?
  • Have you hidden your activity from a partner, parent or friend?
  • Have you chased a loss — increased a bet to try to win back what you lost?
  • Have you borrowed money or used essential funds (rent, bills) to play?
  • Do you feel anxious or irritable when you cannot access the app?

If you answered yes to two or more, that is a strong signal to take a break and speak to someone. Answering yes to even one is worth examining honestly.

State-specific context (India)

India has no unified national gambling law, so your risk level depends partly on where you live. Several states — Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Assam among them — have specifically banned online money-gaming including games of chance. In those states, participating carries legal risk beyond the financial one. Other states have no explicit ban but also no regulatory protection for players. Before you play, check your own state's position; this is general information, not legal advice.
